On Wednesday, November 14, the State of California will hold an emergency preparedness exercise—Golden Guardian—to test the preparedness of cities, counties and the state to meet emergencies such as wild land fires, major storms, earthquakes and, in this case, a bioterrorism incident.
We need lots of role players to be our “spontaneous volunteers”.
Participating in the exercise will require attending a one hour briefing session on Tuesday, November 6, from either 4-5PM or 6-7PM at Cubberley Community Center (in Room H-5). The center is located at 4000 Middlefield Road in south Palo Alto (just south of Charleston Avenue and the Charleston Plaza shopping center). On the day of the exercise—Wednesday, November 14, you will need to put in an appearance as a spontaneous volunteer for one to four hours (your choice on length of time) between 10 AM and 2 PM at Cubberley Community Center.
Lunch will be provided.
If you are interested in participating as a “spontaneous volunteer”, please call the City of Palo Alto Office of Emergency Services at 650-617-3197 to register.
Your participation will help those of us who will be activated for the BIG ONE to get it right.
