Fire Management Plan Presentation |
|
|
Dear Neighbors, The Good News is that the City Council has approved the necessary budget to staff our Foothills Fire Station #8 for 120 days for 12 hours a day for the 2008 Fire Season. The even Better News is that the City staff has begun an important, and overdue, update of the Foothills Fire Management Plan to better understand and prepare for the inevitable fires that will be in our neighborhood and surrounding hillsides in the future. To that end, the City has contracted with a firm that specializes in preparing such a plan and their first public meeting (out of three) is:
May 28th at the Foothills Park Interpretive Center 7 to 9 PM (Click here for the Agenda)
Please plan to attend this meeting at our beautiful park, perhaps packing a picnic dinner (there are grills at the picnic tables there!) beforehand. The weather will be perfect and the scenery at dusk is gorgeous. This is your opportunity to get to know the professionals that will be assessing our fire potential, proposing solutions to areas of concern and what mitigation measures they might propose (such as cutting out another road in our neighborhood....where would that be?). I look forward to seeing you there!
Regards, Jan Terry
